I just have to come out and say it: the Chiefs are 3-0!!!!! Season is in full swing and the entire city is cheering for the boys in red. The game against the Cowboys was unlike anything I had ever seen before. Traffic was at a stand still by 9am and kickoff wasn’t even until noon. Tailgating opened up at 7:30am and there was no shortage of good food and great fans.
To top things off, my parents were also in town! Thanks for coming, I miss you already.
In addition to cheering the team on to victory, we did an incredible tour of Arrowhead Stadium led by one of the most passionate Chiefs supporter in Kansas City. He has been a part of the organization for over twenty years and had so much knowledge to share. It is highly recommended if you are a KC native or just dropping by!
If you are a fan, a friend, or a family member that has been following the season, you might have seen Jeff go down during the game against the Eagles. He suffered a groin injury and is listed as questionable for this week’s game. I truly appreciate all the messages expressing concern and the well wishes for his quick recovery. He is doing much better and we are both remaining positive. I don’t think I will ever get use to seeing him on the field injured, with a pained look in his face, but he tells me, “it’s part of the job.”
I also want to thank everyone that took the time to read my first KC Update. It was one my most visited posts and it’s popularity has encouraged me to make this a blog staple. I have included a new page where all of my future Updates will be archived. Last post I discussed my home DIY project, my game day bag challenge, and my choice to live a more healthful life. The windowpane has been repainted and my good friend suggested I use the “frames” for my engagement photos.
I was a little stumped with the game day bag but I order one with a cross body strap and am looking for cute decals now. As far as the health challenge goes, I have never felt better! I have lost a few pounds and am trying to keep a weekly journal going. Jeff has been loving some of the new recipes and is less likely to suggest going for ice cream and more willing to settle for a bowl of fruit. The actual Fusion Fitness Amp camp starts next Tuesday morning; we will see if I am still feeling “better than ever” after that!
I can barely contain my excitement for our engagement pictures! Kristin McCoppin of Pond Photography and her assistant Janie were an absolute joy to work with. She will be posting a sneak peek on her Facebook so if you are interested in seeing some of our shots, go like her page! I will later write a more extensive post complete with several pictures and bloopers!
Finally, I wanted to highlight one of the more meaningful things Jeff and I got to do this week. We were invited to meet some of the kids from the YMCA Challenger group. It’s a program for children with special needs that emphasizes “physical fitness, personal growth, fun and friendships.” This week, they were sharpening their football skills and Jeff got the chance to give them a few pointers. It was awesome to see so many people out there to support the kids; from grandparents to sibling to cousins, everyone was cheering and you could tell the athletes had a blast! Most of the families also just happened to be Chiefs fans so they lined up for pictures and autographs at the end. For more information about this KC cause, visit their website here.
I also made a new friend! She is too darling.
I hope you all enjoyed the little glimpse inside our lives!
