It has been SO hard to keep this little collaboration a secret. A couple weeks ago, I asked my fashion forward friend, Hillary, to put together some fall outfits to be published on my blog. This is my first ever feature and I LOVE how it turned out. After spending a little time photographing her and listening to her shopping process, I ran home and was eager to create some outfits of my own.
Not only is she gorgeous, Hillary Daniel is an NFL wife like myself, a Mizzou graduate, and has worked as a news anchor and dabbled in the advertising industry. Hillary and her husband Chase are the proud parents of a pomeranian named Bear. (#BearDaniel)
When asked about her fashion icon, she named her mother Georgianna Mullin. When Hillary was a child, her mother would always lay out her outfit from hair bows to shoes the night before school, church or pretty much any occasion. Every. Single. Day. She was exposed to the art of outfit making early on in life! Today, they exchange outfit ideas and seek each other’s opinions when shopping. I have had the pleasure of getting to know Mrs. Mullin and she is always well put together and I’m often envious of her outfits! Hillary summed it up the best, “What I admire most is how she manages to look timeless and fashion forward at the same time. I hope to have her class and taste when I’m in my 50s!”
One of my favorite aspects of the outfits she chose was the fact that she shopped “high and low” and managed to mix less expensive pieces with higher quality and more expensive staples. For example, the skirt in the photo below is from Topshop but she paired it with a beautiful quilted Chanel bag. Two of her favorite brands include Elizabeth and James, and Rag and Bone; both of which can be found at Nordstroms, one of her favorite stores!
This next look was also something I could try. The dress is stretchy, easy to move in, and the sneakers are practical yet in style. I appreciate the fact that she quickly styled three basic pieces and came up with such a fun outfit. One of my number one closet crises includes having outfits, not flexible pieces. I can never seem to reimagine my dresses or sweaters but my wheels are turning and I think I might be able to do this!
When Hillary gets in a rut, she likes to scroll through some of her favorite Instagram accounts: Julie Sarinana (@sincerelyjules); my sister, Jillian (@jillianmullin); Jacey Duprie (@damselindior); Aimee Song (@songofstyle); Blair Eadie (@blaireadiebee); Mary Seng (@happilygrey); Sophie Elkus (@sophieelkus); Catt Sadler (@iamcattsadler); Target Style (@targetstyle); Kat Seaton (@katseaton_); Baldwin (@baldwin); her favorite interior design blog, Studio McGee (@studiomcgee); and for makeup inspiration, Anastasia Beverly Hills (@anastasiabeverlyhills … Just to name a few.
When she came out in her final outfit, I fell in LOVE! I’m not sure if I can pull them off but I am currently on the hunt for the perfect pair of bell bottoms or flares. They are back in style and she looks amazing in them. They are Frame Denim and can be found at a local spot, Standard Style.
I am such sweater and jeans girl but I was really inspired to branch out and try some flares or maybe a simple dress with some of my favorite sneakers. What was your favorite look? Anything you would be willing to try?
